a love poem

nothing puts my soul at ease the way you do
yet nothing breaks me the way you could
for to you I am insignificant

nothing leads me back to myself like you do
for you do not care, deny or allow
you do not fill the void – you just are
and I find peace in your silence

and if one day I shall die
in your lithic embrace
I will be fine
for I know you will not mourn
and I will rest
for I am sure of your everlasting recalcitrance

nothing humbles me the way you do
yet nothing empowers me just as you can
for to you my abilities are my limitations
you are a mirror reflecting my true self

in not loving me back
mountains taught me to love myself
